ENVIRONMENT
Our Integrated Environmental Management System, based on the International Standard ISO 14001:2015 and supported by our Integrated Management Policy, provides us with tools to control and mitigate the risks associated with adverse environmental impacts. The impacts arising from the increase in waste generation and the consumption of natural resources are identified and managed by our highly trained team, ensuring compliance with environmental measures and the successful implementation of our Environmental Management System in each project.
CLIMATE CHANGE
At Elmya, our fight against climate change translates into a strong commitment to renewable energies. Our vision is to become leaders in the comprehensive management of renewable energy projects in Spain and Europe, thus contributing to the future of the energy matrix. To achieve this, we strengthen our presence in the sector through solid relationships with our clients and by offering professional opportunities to our team.
Our commitment is reflected in the development of photovoltaic projects, both nationally and internationally, and in our entry into the self-consumption installation market. Additionally, we have integrated key technologies such as Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and green hydrogen to maximize the efficiency and versatility of our solutions. By combining these technologies with our photovoltaic projects, we promote the generation of clean and sustainable energy, strengthen the resilience of the electrical grid, and reduce dependence on fossil fuels, significantly contributing to climate change mitigation and moving towards a more sustainable and green future for all.
EMISSIONS
The increase in the company’s production over the last three years should have resulted in a rise in our carbon footprint, but our control over it has allowed us to establish greenhouse gas emissions and even reduce them. Similarly, the increase in the number of projects has not led to an increase in waste generation, thanks to management measures and proper treatment, which have allowed us to maintain the volume of waste generated and also increase its recovery and/or recycling by more than 15%.
HEALTH AND SAFETY
We integrate health and safety into all our activities and levels. We maintain ISO 45001 certification and aspire to be a benchmark. We conduct preventive reports, inspections, and identify near misses. We train our employees according to their responsibilities and disciplines. We aim to certify ourselves as a healthy company and promote occupational health. We also foster a culture where behaviors contrary to our values are reported.
CARBON FOOTPRINT
We are committed to the need to advance in the construction of a more sustainable future, promoting the decarbonization of the economy. Therefore, at Elmya we calculate, verify and reduce our Greenhouse Gas emissions. And now we are taking another step forward in our commitment, with the voluntary registration of the company in the Carbon Footprint Registry of the Andalusian Emissions Compensation System (SACE) of the Regional Government of Andalusia.
In order to achieve our ultimate goal of zero accidents, Elmya has developed an operating model based on three pillars:
1.- Managing critical risks and defining red lines
We focus on reducing serious injuries by prioritizing attention to risks specific to our industry. We conduct a comprehensive incident analysis and develop an inspection program to verify critical controls at all our facilities.
In addition, we foster a culture of workplace safety, supported by our Stop Work policy, and reiterate our intolerance of any violation of our fundamental standards.
2.- Commitment and awareness in the workplace
We are committed to ensuring the health and safety of all employees and contractors through a management system, which encourages staff engagement and provides tools to improve the work environment and ensure efficient work execution.
Our safety strategy is based on identifying, communicating and managing risks in all workplaces and we strive to continuously improve our HSE performance.
3. Continuous improvement in safety, health and prevention.
We are dedicated to continuously improving our Occupational Health and Safety management systems.
Within our annual training plan, we offer specific health and safety modules, as well as process safety tools to ensure a safe working environment for all our employees, promoting a culture of prevention and safety that is respected by everyone in the team.
