- Elmya signs a contract with Low Carbon for the execution of the Pattingham Farm project, a few miles from Birmingham.
- The Spanish portfolio currently consists of 30 large solar projects in the UK market and 1,165MWp connected.
Seville, February. Elmya EPC, the company dedicated to industrial projects in renewable energies, belonging to the Spanish multinational Elmya, entered 2024 signing the agreement for the design and construction of a solar power plant with a capacity of approximately 22.51MWp in the United Kingdom. This agreement adds to Elmya EPC&’s extensive portfolio of projects in the UK.
The company, which specialises in renewable energy and electrical installations, will be responsible for the construction of the Pattingham Farm photovoltaic plant near Birmingham (UK) for Low Carbon, a global renewable energy company committed to making a positive, significant and lasting impact on climate change.
Low Carbon invests in, develops, and operates solar, wind and waste-to-energy storage projects across the UK, Europe and North America. The UK company is contributing to the global shift to 100% renewable energy by aiming to create and operate 20 GW of new capacity by 2030. They currently have more than 12 GW of new renewable energy under development globally.
“We are delighted to be partnering with Elmya, who have a strong track record internationally for building renewable infrastructure on time and to budget. Once operational, Pattingham solar farm will deliver clean, secure electricity helping to play an important role decarbonising the UK grid network and reducing our reliance on fossil fuels”, says Edward Reeve, Head of Supply Chain & Procurement of Low Carbon.
Elmya will execute all phases of the Pattingham Farm project with an approximate capacity of 22.51MWp of DC power, 17.5MWac of inverter power and 15MWac of POI power. The Spanish company will be responsible for the design, construction, commissioning and operation of the plant.
“The Pattingham project represents a significant stride in one of our key markets, the United Kingdom. Low Carbon is a renowned developer, and it is both a challenge and a source of great satisfaction that they have entrusted us. We anticipate this to be the first of many successful collaborations," states Gerardo Rodríguez Pagano, Managing Director of Elmya EPC.
The solar power plant is expected to be operational by March 2025 and generate enough electricity to supply more than 13,000 households, avoiding the emission of 12,585 tonnes of CO2. Elmya will use the best technologies available on the market to achieve the highest possible yields in a country with less solar radiation than many other European markets.
The Spanish portfolio currently consists of 30 large solar projects in the UK market and 165MWp connected.
“This project is a significant milestone that reaffirms the international character of Elmya EPC. We have consistently adapted to meet the needs of our clients and the opportunities presented by the market at any given time, and this occasion will be no different,” explains Rodríguez Pagano.
